Why we exist

Starting a business is hard enough. Finding out how should not be.

My Business Path turns the repeated questions, research and uncertainty of starting a UK business into a clear route that ordinary people can understand and follow.

The idea behind it

The same questions come up time and time again.

Setting up a business can mean dozens of unfamiliar decisions: which legal route to choose, how to keep records, what technology is needed, how to take payments, what compliance applies and how customers will find you. The research takes time, and the fear of getting something wrong can stop a good idea before it starts.

Having helped people start businesses, we have seen the same questions return again and again—from everyday IT and website choices to broader questions about structure, tax, insurance, data and business responsibilities. People should not have to rediscover every answer alone.

Business Link once gave many UK founders a recognisable place to begin. My Business Path grew from the belief that a modern version of that starting point should be guided, practical and collaborative: a roadmap, a library of how-to guidance, useful tools, community knowledge and a marketplace of providers who can help when doing it alone is not the right answer.

My Business Path is an independent service. It is not connected with the former Business Link service or endorsed by government. Important guidance links back to current official sources.

What guides us

Useful at the moment somebody needs the answer.

01

Make the first step clearer

Explain unfamiliar choices in plain English, show why they matter and turn research into practical next actions.

02

Bring useful help together

Connect official sources, working tools, lived experience and suitable providers without making founders search from scratch.

03

Keep trust ahead of income

Commercial relationships help fund the platform, but they never buy approval, verification, a recommendation or a higher position.

Free for founders

A practical resource, funded openly.

Founders can use My Business Path without paying for access. The platform still needs responsible maintenance, current content and secure technology, so commercial income helps meet those costs.

Affiliate relationships

We may receive a fee when somebody chooses a provider through certain links. The relationship does not decide the order or recommendation.

Marketplace listings

Approved providers may pay to be listed. Payment does not guarantee approval, verification, prominence, enquiries or sales.

One rule applies throughout

No provider receives overall priority because it pays us. We aim to show useful official and free routes alongside commercial choices, and the founder remains free to choose—or choose none.
